Agriculture Drives Country’s Development – Agriculture Secretary Advocates Women’s Involvement
Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Wahida Akhter, emphasized the crucial role of agriculture in the country’s development, urging women to participate alongside men in agricultural activities.
Akhter spoke as the chief guest at a farmer’s training program organized by the BRAC Bank-DAE Agricultural Development Project at Sugandhi Secondary School in Dighlia.
According to BSS News, the Secretary highlighted Bangladesh’s journey to food self-sufficiency, citing initiatives by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to boost food production through various government projects.
The event, chaired by Deputy Director of DAE Kazi Jahangir Hossain, aimed to empower local farmers with enhanced agricultural practices.
Dighlia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khan Masum Billah and former additional director of DAE Mohan Kumar Ghosh also addressed the gathering as special guests.
The training program saw participation from 120 farmers across different unions of Dighlia Upazila.
Secretary Akhter concluded the event by distributing saplings of various species to the farmers, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to agricultural advancement.
