The Overview of SVRI Research Grant 2025
The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) invites applications for innovative research that will help prevent and respond to violence against women (VAW), violence against children (VAC), and other forms of violence caused by gender inequality in low and middle-income countries.
SVRI grant-making is based on feminist principles, and it recognizes and tackles unequal power dynamics between donors and researchers, as well as in collaborations between high-income and low- and middle-income nations, within countries, and among researchers and practitioners. The SVRI encourages priority-driven and meaningful research, as well as equitable research partnerships and practices that foster the leadership of researchers from low- and middle-income countries.
The SVRI has been giving grants in a variety of methods since 2012. We formally launched the SVRI Grant in 2013, and from 2015 to 2020, we collaborated with the World Bank Group and Wellspring Philanthropic Fund to co-fund the SVRI WBG Development Marketplace Awards. In 2021, we collaborated with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund to launch the SVRI Research Grant: Knowledge for Action to End Violence Against Women and Children.
