President Tinubu to Lead Historic Attendance at National Agric Show: A Bold Step Towards Food Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to create history as the inaugural national leader to personally grace the esteemed National Agric Show, a collaborative initiative between farmers and the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN).

Scheduled to unfold from November 20th to 24th at KM 28, Abuja-Keffi Road, this significant event has garnered anticipation and enthusiasm within agricultural circles.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria, Architect Kabir Ibrahim, expressed a strong possibility of President Tinubu’s participation.

In a candid conversation with Food Farm News, Ibrahim highlighted the potential significance of this attendance, indicating it could mark a significant commitment by the nation’s leader towards achieving enhanced food security.

Ibrahim emphasized the critical nature of this event, stating,

We have invited Mr. President and implored him to grace the occasion as a sign of his commitment to the attainment of Food Security“, as he himself declared.

He further stressed the urgency of this initiative in the face of prevalent challenges such as climate change, insecurity, escalating food prices, and global conflicts, particularly the Ukraine-Russia war.

Reflecting on the precarious state of Nigeria’s food systems, Ibrahim underscored the need for collective action, urging AFAN State Chapter Chairs and all stakeholders in the agricultural domain to rally their support.

He acknowledged the pivotal role played by smallholder farmers, responsible for feeding over 200 million Nigerians, and urged their active participation in this nationwide effort.

He added that

Nigeria is at a precipice, and all hands must be on deck to turn the situation around in our food system. I urge all the AFAN State Chapter Chairs and all stakeholders in the Agriculture space to mobilize their members, who are largely smallholder farmers who are responsible for feeding over 200,000,000 of our country’s men, women and children.

The imminent attendance of President Tinubu at this event carries profound implications, signifying a national call to action. His presence is poised to galvanize support and reinforce the gravity of addressing food security as an urgent national priority.

This momentous occasion stands as a clarion call to unite against adversity and stands testament to the determination to steer Nigeria towards a more secure and sustainable food future.

President Tinubu’s potential attendance not only demonstrates leadership but also serves as an inspiring catalyst for widespread engagement in securing the nation’s food systems.
