Our commitment

When we get something wrong we say so on the story, permanently, with the date and what changed. We do not quietly edit an error away, and we do not delete a story to remove a mistake from the record.

Corrections and clarifications

A correction fixes a factual error. A clarification addresses something accurate but open to being misread. Both are published on the story and dated.

How to report an error

Contact the newsroom with the story and the passage. You do not need to prove the error — a credible report is enough for us to check it.

Significant corrections are listed publicly so the record can be inspected rather than taken on trust.
