Fact-Checking
What gets checked
Every factual claim in every story: figures, dates, names, quotes, and the characterisation of what a document or study says.
Who checks it
The reporter checks their own work and an editor checks it independently. Technical coverage may additionally be reviewed by a named subject-matter specialist, and where it is, this site records and publishes that reviewer.
Sources we treat as authoritative
Peer-reviewed research, official statistics, primary documents, and named experts speaking within their field. A press release is a claim, not a source.
When we cannot confirm something
We say so in the story rather than leaving the reader to assume it was verified.
