Magical Farming Delight: Inverness Couple Joanna MacGregor and Donald Fraser‘s Third-Year Festive Extravaganza Charms Visitors

News Summary:

  • Inverness Farm transforms into a winter wonderland for the third consecutive year.
  • Joanna MacGregor and Donald Fraser created “Farmer Christmas,” featuring Santa’s grotto and festive activities.
  • The event gains popularity as families enjoy tractor rides and a charming Christmas experience, prompting plans for more next year.

In Inverness, the annual transformation of Farm Ness into a festive haven marks its third consecutive year, welcoming visitors to indulge in a wintertime extravaganza.

Once a humble spot, the farm now boasts a warm and inviting Santa’s grotto, a delightful letter-posting corner for those eager to reach the North Pole, and an array of other enchanting attractions.

This transformation is the brainchild of Joanna MacGregor, a former educator, and her partner, Donald Fraser, who have embraced the spirit of Christmas by curating a delightful experience for families in the region.

The inception of ‘Farmer Christmas’ emerged from a simple quest to find engaging activities for Joanna’s children within the vicinity.

Disappointed by the dearth of festive offerings in the Highland region, Joanna and Donald decided to craft their unique Christmas experience, an endeavour they found deeply rewarding.

Recounting the humble beginnings, Joanna reminisces,

“My kids were three and five when we begun and there was nothing really like this nearby.

“We saw it as an opportunity to add an experience which was missing from up here and have really enjoyed creating it.

“It started in a farm shed with a pop up cafe, selling my family trees and Donald dressed as Santa.

“We still sell the trees and also our own beef – this year we’ve also made Santa’s grotto cosier.”

The farm not only continues its tradition of offering trees and their homegrown beef, she noted but has also enhanced its offerings with a cosier Santa’s grotto.

Commencing on November 25, the event spans the two Saturdays leading up to Christmas, attracting an influx of visitors seeking a safe and joyous environment for their children.

Reflecting on the journey, Joanna shares,

“It’s been really busy and people feel safe to let their kids run free here.

“It’s been a lot of hard work – we begun to set up on October 31 and it took practically the whole of November to be ready.

“There has been a lot of positive feedback again this year, from what I gather the kid’s could just sit on the tractor trailer all day.”

Looking ahead to the forthcoming year, Joanna expresses her eagerness to plan and augment the winter wonderland experience.

She enthuses,

“We absolutely love running it so of course it’s exciting to think about what we could add for next year.

“My kids Alistair and Felicity, who are now eight and six, have also been helping out this year.

“I definitely think I want to up my elf action because the children love engaging with them.

With her children, Alistair and Felicity, actively involved in this year’s festivities, Joanna plans to intensify the engagement by introducing more interactions with playful elves.

“Hopefully people already see it as an opportunity to leave with all you need for Christmas.

She assures that any possible improvements to elevate the experience will undoubtedly be explored, illustrating her commitment to continually enhance the Farm Ness Christmas affair.
