SDWMA Scholarship Program Overview
Are you a present or incoming post-secondary student interested in studying natural resource and environmental protection, the solid waste business, or other related fields? If so, you might be qualified for the SDWMA Scholarship Program!
Every year, many university students with a love for the environment and/or the solid waste business get scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 each.
Applications are not limited to those who live in or are enrolled in school in South Dakota; preference will be given to (1) South Dakota residents who plan to attend higher education institutions in the state, and (2) high school seniors and students enrolled full- or part-time in a South Dakota post-secondary institution. The South Dakota Solid Waste Management Association
The South Dakota Solid Waste Management Association (SD SWMA) is a non-profit organization that supports environmentally friendly waste disposal methods throughout the state of South Dakota.
SD SWMA, founded in 1989, offers educational resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy to people and groups interested in the waste management business.
The organization also collaborates with government agencies, community groups, and academic institutions to develop and execute effective waste management solutions that safeguard both general health and the environment. SD SWMA leads the way in South Dakota’s solid waste management, from composting and recycling to landfill management and hazardous waste disposal.
Scholarship Eligibility Information
This scholarship is open to students who meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Grade Level: High School Seniors and College Students
- Academic Interests: agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, computer science, engineering, biology, earth science, hydrology, environmental health, chemistry, education, business, accounting
- State of South Dakota
