Enhancing Agricultural Infrastructure in Liberia: RTI International’s $50,000 Funding Opportunity

Application Deadline: November 27, 2023

In a concerted effort to bolster agricultural practices and infrastructural development in Liberia, RTI International has announced an open call for concept papers. This initiative aims to drive forward the enhancement of production, post-harvest processing, storage, and the construction of small-scale irrigation systems.

The Feed the Future Liberia Food Security, Nutrition, and Resilience (FSNR) project, spanning a period of five years, stands committed to elevating agriculture-driven economic growth. Its overarching objective is to fortify food security and nutrition in Liberia. This endeavor has been entrusted to RTI International in collaboration with esteemed partners: BRAC, Dimagi, and GiveDirectly.

The FSNR project endeavors to achieve the following in Liberia:

  • Strengthening agricultural practices and on-farm processing capabilities for specific beneficiary groups.
  • Diversification of livelihoods leads to augmented incomes, savings, and improved access to financial services, land, and agricultural equipment.
  • Facilitating improved market access and ensuring year-round availability, accessibility, and utilization of nutritious food within targeted communities

At the heart of this initiative lies the Resilience Investment Fund (RIF), which has been established with the overarching goal of aiding eligible cooperatives in augmenting production, post-harvest processing, and storage capabilities. Additionally, the fund will be allocated to support the development of small-scale irrigation infrastructure in Liberia. Through the RIF, cooperatives will progressively assume the responsibility of procuring and managing services for the benefit of their members.

Funding Information:

Grants will be competitively awarded based on their anticipated impact. The maximum grant amount is set at USD 50,000, with an implementation period ranging from 12 to 24 months from the date of award.
