Overview of the SlovakAid Small Grants Programme Georgia
The Slovak Embassy in Tbilisi, in collaboration with the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation, is seeking proposals for small grants that will support small-scale development projects and allow for a flexible, operational, and effective response to local development needs.
Small grants are one of the mechanisms of Slovakia’s development cooperation. They are given by the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation via the Slovak Embassy in Tbilisi.
Small Grants Programme Georgia Eligibility criteria
- The call for proposals is open to registered participants.
- Legal entities that are not entrepreneurial or commercial.
- nongovernmental organizations
- Local and regional self-government bodies.
Non-eligibility criteria
- The applicant cannot be.
- A legal entity subject to an international sanction under the Slovak Republic’s Act No. 289/2016 Coll. on the Implementation of International Sanctions and the Amendment to Act No. 566/2001 Coll. on Securities and Investment Services, as well as the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts.
- A legal entity over which the Slovak Republic has a financial claim.
Priorities
- Quality education (SDG 4) – education at all school levels, developing professional skills with a focus on joining the labor market and running one’s own business, education of pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff, and school facility equipment.
- Good health (SDG 3) – health care with an emphasis on women and children, nutrition programs, population education and awareness in the field of preventative and health care, health professional education, and health facility equipment.
- Environment and climate change (SDG 13) – support for climate change mitigation, strengthening capacity to adapt to climate change, increasing ecosystem resilience, protecting nature, biodiversity, and soil, environmental monitoring; protection and promotion of the sustainable use of natural resources.
- Gender equality (SDG 5) entails promoting equality between men and women, eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and girls, as well as all forms of violence against women and girls, including harmful practices and customs (such as early or forced marriages or female genital mutilation), and ensuring equal participation in public life.
- Good governance and civil society building (SDG 16, 11) – public sector reform, public finance management, assistance in advancing the rule of law and civil society participation in democratic processes, local government capacity building and active citizen participation in community development, security sector reform, civilian crisis management, avoiding conflict, and reconciliation activities;
- Food safety and agriculture (SDG 1,2) – implementation of new techniques and practices in all aspects of the food chain, including agricultural product processing, marketing and sale, food security, and job creation;
- Infrastructure and the equitable utilization of natural resources (SDG 6, 11, 7, 15) – water management, integrated management of water and other natural resources, revitalization and protection of endangered water resources, drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, waste management, raising consciousness about sustainability, energy security and the use of alternative energy sources, sustainable settlement development, increasing resilience to natural disasters, including the effects of climate change.
- Support for the establishment of a market environment (SDG 8, 9) – assistance for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, the introduction of innovations, and employment creation.

Funding Information
- The maximum non-repayable financial contribution is 10,000 EUR per project.
- Each project lasts between 6 and 12 months, beginning immediately after the small grant agreement goes into effect.
- The maximum number of selected projects is limited by the budget for this call for ideas, which is 110,000 EUR.
Deadline for Submission
The deadline for project proposals is May 5th (Sunday, 2024).
The project proposals should be sent electronically to emb.tbilisi@mzv.sk and in a physical copy to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tbilisi, located at Mtskheta St. 13, 0179, Tbilisi, Georgia.
Hard-copy applications (completed, signed, and stamped) with relevant accompanying documentation (registration documents of the applicant organization and CVs of key representatives responsible for project implementation in English) should be sent to the Slovak Embassy by May 5, 2024, on the given deadline, click here for more info.
