The intersection of food and sport has never been more important for promoting good health, and the Sport and Food for Good Health initiative is here to support innovative projects that harness this powerful combination.

However, suppose you’re a community organization promoting healthy eating habits among youth athletes in France, a school in India creating nutrition education programs for students, or a non-profit in Brazil working to combat obesity through sports-based interventions.

In that case, this initiative recognizes that a holistic approach to health and well-being is essential for creating lasting change.

Overview of the Sport and Food for Good Health Projects

The Roquette Foundation for Health, affiliated with the Fondation de France, and the Decathlon Foundation have chosen to collaborate to publish a joint call for projects on the theme “Sport and Food for Good Health”.

Diet and physical activity are two important elements in health maintenance and prevention. A varied and balanced diet and regular daily physical activity promote physical and psychological health.

Sport and Food for Good Health Project Criteria

You are a non-profit organization (foundation, association, NGO, or endowment fund) that is authorized to accept donations from French foundations.

The project is intended for those who are in vulnerable situations, such as precariousness, disability, living in underprivileged communities, or having illnesses.

You create a project that demonstrates the benefits of food and sport: you provide total support for physical well-being, eating and moving to grow properly.

This project is long-term sustainable, with recipients having access to physical and sporting activities as well as a healthy diet.

The Foundation’s budget is used to fund the following: the construction or renovation of sports infrastructure, sports-related personnel costs (sports instructor with a program roadmap and his involvement), food purchases, and personnel costs associated with a healthier diet.

The Purpose of the Grant

  • Purpose
  • They must be established in one of three countries: France, India, or Brazil.
  • The Foundations will support programs that will help any beneficiary in a vulnerable condition (insecurity, disability, living in poor neighbourhoods, illnesses, etc.) achieve better long-term health through a balanced diet and proper physical activity. Sport and diet are inextricably linked in terms of health promotion.
  • Projects must be long-term and exhibit a sustainable action approach, to maximise the social effect of their efforts.

Grant Funding Information

The appeal for projects has been given €150,000, which will be spread among three countries. The sums paid to the selected projects may vary depending on their requirements and the panel members’ opinions.

Eligibility for the Sport and Food for Good Health Projects

  • The project call is targeted at general-interest organizations (NGOs, associations, foundations, etc.). Financial demands must be related to sport-related costs (sports equipment, sports infrastructure, equipment, staff, etc.) as well as costs associated with a better diet (food purchases, staff charges (dietician, nutritionist). Requests for operating expenditures unrelated to the project are denied.
  • The main objective of the study is to show that, in terms of preventing illness, food and exercise are intricately related.
  • After winning the grant, the project needs to start within a year.

And so, we bring our journey through the “Sport and Food for Good Health” initiative to a close, but the quest for health and well-being continues.

The power of sport and nutrition to promote physical and mental well-being is undeniable, and the innovative projects supported by this initiative are a testament to the creativity and commitment of those working to promote health and well-being in France, India, and Brazil.

As we look forward, let us remember that good health is a foundation for a thriving society and that the choices we make in our daily lives have a profound impact on our individual and collective well-being. To your health!
